Biography

Daniel Apon, PhD is a cryptography lead at MITRE in McLean, Virginia, and an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland, College Park, where he previously earned a PhD in Computer Science with a focus on cryptography. He held a Postdoctoral Scholar position at the University of California, Berkeley, then joined the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) during NIST’s Post-Quantum Cryptography Standardization project as a lattice cryptography and hash cryptography subject matter expert.
