Making Sense of the Quantum Mess (T13b)
In 2015, NSA declassified some of their concerns regarding the threat of quantum computing to classical cryptography, making the (in)famous statement, “IAD will initiate a transition to quantum resistant algorithms in the not too distant future.” This statement, and the implications behind it, sowed immediate confusion in the CSfC ecosystem which lingers to this day. What is the real threat of quantum computing? What should a CSfC user consider? What should a trusted integrator be advising? What kinds of capabilities should product vendors implement? And what is the path forward? We’ll address all of these questions during this talk.
