Industry Keynote: Pushing the Edge—CSfC for an Emerging Space Ecosystem (P10d)
Rapidly declining launch costs are driving a growing commercial ecosystem for space deployments. Space is no longer exclusively a GOTS proposition and is moving rapidly toward COTS solutions. For example, NASA’s High-Performance Spaceflight Computing contract awarded in 2022 will release its first chips in 2025, bringing data center-like compute capabilities to space. This advancement enables real-time decision-making and advanced data processing, from Lunar data centers to tactical operations at the edge. This talk examines the emerging dual-use environments that tightly link ground and space resources, exploring their security challenges and the opportunities they create for the CSfC community. It highlights the potential role of CSfC in addressing these challenges and merging tactical operations with advanced space computing platforms.
