Maybe The Criteria Isn’t So Uncommon After All (R00c)

There has been a substantial diversification in the use of Common Criteria under different schemes. That diversification may read as the CC having became The Uncommon Criteria as a result of a distrust among the actors in the international CC community. An alternative reading of the diversification is that through the changes in the use of CC, the international community is responding to and keeping up to date with the evolution of the engineering and testing of high assurance computer security products since the release of CCv3.1, and to the increase in the number of certified product types.

The talk will explore the change in the international use of Common Criteria. The talk shall identify some key trends in the evaluation and certification, and explore the changes in the industry and standards allowing the international engineering companies to formulate meaningful strategies to meet the certification requirements of different markets. The audience will be given a solid review of the current certification landscape based on the author’s twenty-five years of experience with the Common Criteria, and concrete pointers in the preparation of strategies to meet the diversifying global certification requirements.
